Oulu Museum and Science Centre is a regional responsibility museum under the Finnish Museums Act (314/2019). We promote regional museum and cultural work in Northern Ostrobothnia.

As the museum in charge, our mission is to provide information and expertise on local and regional cultural heritage to local museums, public authorities and private citizens. We provide guidance and advice on the built environment, archaeology, restoration and management of the cultural environment. We also act as an expert authority in the province of Northern Ostrobothnia providing statements on planning and land use questions.
